Waldart is a small workshop near Graz, Austria. We make wall pieces from real preserved moss and lichen, arranged by hand and framed in black or dark wood. Natural differences in the material give each piece its own surface.
The rooms we spend our days in shape how we feel. A Waldart piece brings a quiet presence of the forest indoors: preserved moss keeps its colour and softness for years without water, light or care. It rewards a closer look and asks nothing in return.
Where it grows
Real moss and lichen, preserved for indoor spaces. Their branching textures and natural relief become part of a composition you can live with, without watering.
How a piece is made
The design, material and frame come together by hand. Production takes approximately 10 business days; delivery time is additional. Images illustrate the materials and process.
Your chosen size and frame define the space for the composition.
The moss for your piece is sorted by type and shade; only even, intact tufts make it into the trays.
Every tuft is placed by hand — the slow part, and the reason no two pieces are identical.
Checked against the design, then numbered at the bench. Collection pieces ship with their certificate.
Double-wall carton, corner protection, care card and a small repair kit — then 1–5 days in transit.
