Handcrafted to order in Austria
The piece
A tranquil landscape unfolds beneath your gaze.
Archipelago I captures the quiet majesty of nature with its harmonious blend of mosses. Each element is carefully arranged—a carpet of deep-green flat moss, rising into soft domes of ball-moss and interspersed with vibrant Iceland moss. This design translates the serene beauty of a secluded island landscape into a tangible form, inviting a sense of peace and calm into your space. Choose from a variety of sizes and two sophisticated frame options to complement your home.
Crafted to order in our Graz atelier, each Archipelago I piece is composed of real preserved mosses. The flat moss acts as the foundation, while the grass-green Iceland moss and rounded ball-moss create depth and movement. Each creation is unique, honoring the natural variations in color and texture.
No water, no light, no maintenance required. Keep away from direct sunlight and sustained high humidity to preserve its beauty.
The gentle textures soften the echo in a room, creating a tranquil atmosphere that speaks to the soothing qualities of nature.

An island has an edge. An archipelago has a rhythm. Across this family, separate green forms gather into a whole; the dark ground gives each one room.

Every Waldart palette starts outdoors: which greens sit next to each other, where light catches, how much empty space a surface needs. The first two images are nature studies for this design family; the others are photographs from our walks. The panels themselves are made from preserved moss.
After rain, a puddle turns a few mossy stones into islands. Their spacing is irregular, yet the eye reads them as one group. Archipelago builds on exactly that: separate forms, one quiet whole.
A dor beetle climbs onto one of the islands. Up close, the moss cap has its own shore, its own slope and its own dark water line.
Only the tips catch the light. That is why the brightest green appears sparingly, as an accent rather than a surface.
Moss never stops in a straight line. Colour fields fray into each other, and we let them.
Water makes the spaces between stones visible. Empty space is part of the composition, not what is left over.
