The piece

A quiet ascent, where green whispers harmonize.

Ascent I invites you on a journey of natural tranquility. Each moss gradation, from deep fir to pale grass-green, draws the eye upward, evoking the subtle rise of morning light over a forest canopy. Whether a statement piece or a quiet whisper, its presence instills a serene atmosphere. The natural hues offer a grounding focal point in any space, bringing a tactile sense of nature that feels both timeless and intimate.

One family. One shared world.

Layer follows layer toward a centre. Ascent turns changes of green into a sense of height: the eye crosses each contour as though approaching a summit.

04 / Field notes

Where the compositions begin.

Every Waldart palette starts outdoors: which greens sit next to each other, where light catches, how much empty space a surface needs. The first two images are nature studies for this design family; the others are photographs from our walks. The panels themselves are made from preserved moss.

Hoof-shaped tinder fungi stacked up the trunk of a dead beech
01 / Levels

Tinder fungi climb a dead beech trunk, one bracket above the next. Each level is its own shape, together they make height visible. Ascent turns changes of green into the same kind of climb.

A rosette of turkey tail fungus with concentric bands on a fallen branch
02 / Contours

A turkey tail fungus seen from above: ring after ring, each a little lighter or darker than the last, all leading toward one centre, like contour lines on a map.

Close-up of moss on bark with bright green tips
03 / Light

Only the tips catch the light. That is why the brightest green appears sparingly, as an accent rather than a surface.

Moss spreading across grey limestone, a single leaf above
04 / Edges

Moss never stops in a straight line. Colour fields fray into each other, and we let them.

A woodland stream running between mossy stones and fallen leaves
05 / Intervals

Water makes the spaces between stones visible. Empty space is part of the composition, not what is left over.
